This is an exact replica of the sword used by the Templar Rene from the movie Soldier of God. Red crosses are inlaid into the ends of the guard and a cross is carved on both sides of the pommel. The wood grip is covered in leather and can be used with one or two hands. The blade is fully tempered high carbon steel and the scabbard is included. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. The Crusades created a tumultuous period when Western armies, fired with the crusading spirit, wrestled most of the Holy Land from the Moslems. Holding it was a different matter, and the Crusaders never again matched their initial success. The West, still somewhat barbaric, learned a great deal from their opponents, bringing back new knowledge from their travels. (Some historians believe the Crusades helped encourage a thirst for exploration among Europeans that helped in the discovery of America.) The sword was a most important part of the Crusade, and this example is a superb fighting weapon.
